A Toast to Scholarship and History

2010Toast019Each year BN Duke scholars gather around the statue of their scholarship namesake, Benjamin Newton Duke, to toast the legacy of which they are now a part.

Benjamin’s N. Duke’s statue stands on the university’s East Campus. Duke University unveiled the statue on October 2, 1999 during a dedication ceremony.

The statue continues to be a ceremonious location for students who receive the prestigious scholarship. Current scholars raised their glasses to B.N. Duke and their scholarship program in April 2012.
